Well I'm a Dominican/Black guy and I think overall black males are faster and more confident to compliment on how a girl looks but it seems he likes you based on what your saying.

Note to "Chief" you sound very retarded ,I'm black and am very respectable so don't make racial assumptions.

It depends on the doctor, economics, your geographic location, your ethnicity, and your clinical history. There are many possibilities. Without knowing your situation, I couldn't tell you exactly what to expect. Most people in the U.S. can easily get a prescription for pills from their family doctor without having to do anything except go to the doctor's office. It often takes less than 15 minutes. A few doctors will demand that you see a therapist or psychiatrist. There may be more trouble with insurance than with doctors. Insurance companies will not always pay for all of the possible prescriptions, but they do pay for some that are as effective as those they wont pay for. The prescription medicines you often see on TV can cost $ 300 per month without insurance. Less advertised ones are usually much more affordable ($ 20 or less per month).

Usually pills alone will not work, but it is not a bad idea to try them first if you are really suffering. I know that talking about it can be very hard. Good luck.

There is another alternative: Electric Convulsion Therapy (formally Electric Shock). You would usually have to see a psychiatrist to receive the treatment, but it usually works and has less side effects than pills. I have had received ECT. Unfortunately, most doctors only recommend it in very severe and chronic cases and it isn't available at many hospitals.

First, I am not at all a fan of yuri. I hate it. I understand where your friend is coming from though. When I wrote my first Lord of the Rings fanfic, I was terrified about posting it. Then I just made myself do it. If they like it, they like it. If they don't, I'll take it down. It turned out that people loved it and I have three Lord of the Rings fics going right now and I love posting new fics.

So I would advise her to just do it. If people don't like it she can take it down and no one will know about it and those that read it and hated it will probably forget. Chances are, people will love it.

what is vitally important is to choose your healing route- for this problem ----- carefully from good information—that means knowing druggs/meds treatment for this can/will be damaging to your mind and body .drugs only mask the symptoms they do not cure.

This info well –it will save ---years of suffering = if you apply it ..

All treatment recommended by the doctors should be tested and approved and quite rightly so.
That makes sense
It costs millions of pounds to test and approve just one treatment.

Drug companies pay for most testing and will only and I mean only look at treatments, which show the promise of good deal of a profit, --they will actively dismiss any therapy which does not have profit potential— thus your doctor will only recommend therapies that have been tested with profit potential in them.

Despite The fact that some of these other therapies mentioned below do have overwhelming benefits some, which have saved massive amounts of suffering

Drugs are not the answer for any mental illness-- at best they mask symptoms

This is a fundamental principle grasp this fully –

Have you heard your local doctor recommend, Massage Spiritual healing, reiki Light therapy, Colour therapy, the violet ray therapy, Osteopathy, Electrical Frequency devices. Karma therapy and u wont because no one can put a patent on these powerful therapies .

For much more info/ detail and research behind this protocol
Go here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/theholistichealingofdepressiongroup/
Upon joining this group you will be sent a file giving the info –or go to the files section within the group and u will see it there

Print this all off save it and enact it and share it --- of course someone to help you get these therapies in your life is invaluable but do not be swayed by anyone trying for short cuts …
.
1,get someone to massage your back and legs at least 3 times a week use peanut oil or a mix of 50-50 olive and peanut oil.

2 use the violet ray machine an Edgar Cayce device google search this --- 3 times a week on the other days especially on the spine….we use it every day with very positive results

3.get a tent sleep out side 3times a week utilising earth energy - nature can help big time especially with how you feel how much energy you have

4 study and apply good nutrition— adele davis books =protein minerals =iron essential fatty acids omega 3 6 9 protein etc

5 ensure your thyroid is working well get it checked

6 ensure you do at least I hr per day some kind of voluntary work when you are able..the reasons you are ill , or poor or have allsorts of bad things happen to you is because of karma -----usually from past lives but some from this one –voluntary work will offset your mistakes--- how much it offsets well that is down to god and how much you do. Healing us is in direct proportion to the help we give others ie your healing comes with helping others achieve theirs so if people are doing very little in helping others ---they suffer more and longer...and if they are doing a lot they get well faster....so now you know what to do ,,and like a lot of us are already doing being of service.

7 be amongst people who are giving, friendly who have time for you who love you , choose your friends well . choose your company well.

8 get to a place which personally love or like

9 do some work which you like or love

10 ensure you do no acts which hurt or inflict on anyone –don’t want to add to your karma do we !!!

11 spiritual healing and reiki find good therapists who offer this service in your area many spiritualist churches which are all around offer this for free as part of their vocational offerings to the divine.

12 focus your mind - think good positive thoughts, laughter, look at comedy, play good uplifting music,

13 avoid at all costs exposure to violence, murders, suffering ,death ,tragedies, -feed upon good things uplifting things, things that feel like a breath of fresh air..

14 Positive affirmation- t programme your self in the mirror , thoughts are things words are things actions are things , all have influence, few people realise these things can have an effect on themselves .

15 get a detox ------ toxins can influence how you feel big time

16 hugs get plenty of them in your daily life you would be amazed at how people feel after a few decent hugs.== find a big tree and hug that.
.
17 loads of exercise running walking climbing but something which you enjoy

18 light therapy sunshine and vitamin d and ensure water intake 2 litres a day

A total cure however is tied up with karma so you can imagine just how important is the voluntary work. The more u do the better u will feel .

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a step-by-step program when it comes to mental diseases. Bi-Polar is a disease just like diabetes and heart disease and requires the right safe medications. It is caused by a disruption in important brain chemicals. A psychiatrist is the only specialist who can diagnose and treat you with the right medications. A good psychiatrist can usually diagnose you in one visit. You will want to make a list of all of your symptoms, how often and how they disrupt your life. Do not believe anybody who tells you that there are natural cures as they don't exist. Bi-Polar is usually an inherited disease. To find out more and get help you can go to the site nami.org which is the site for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. On their site you can find the phone number for your local chapter. They offer support, information and they have the best referrals for the help you need in your area. Anxiety usually co-exists with Bi-Polar. The decision as to which medications are right for you can only be made by a psychiatrist. With Bi-Polar you would require an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer. Possibly you will find that you don't have Bi-Polar but it is extremely important to find out. A diagnosis is pretty easy to make and doesn't require any written questions or tests. With the right medications at the right dosage you aren't even aware that you are taking them and you will have the ability to live a happy and productive life.

Honestly, I've never heard of a diagnosis taking that many visits. It sounds odd to me that they are that reluctant to give you a diagnosis. Just for practical reasons, I believe that they have to present your health insurance with some kind of diagnosis to get reimbursed.

Sometimes it takes 6 months to get a psychologist, even longer for a psychiatrist. Once you see the doc, there is a series of tests, for about 6 hours, including the MMPI. It would take 2 weeks to analyze. You should have an idea about diagnosis in 4 weeks.

Initial evaluation varies from place to place. Usually the first time they see you for about an hour and ask a bunch of questions. Sometimes there is a depression questionnaire that is about 15 questions and really easy.
No, you cannot get psychotropic pills without going to a psychiatrist. No regular doctor in my experience is willing to do that.
Major Depression is a form of depression and implies some psychotic symptoms. You probably mean that you just are really badly depressed.
Luckily the meds for depression also work for social anxiety so you may just need one pill. They will start out with a lower dose and work upwards until you are better. It takes a while (at least two weeks) for the pills to kick in and work. So they will want to see you once a month until you reach a comfortable level. Then it can be less often.

Because we don't want to be rejected.

here's a definition from Oxford's dictionary:
a person or thing dismissed as failing to meet standards or satisfy taste

It's basically like this...
it comes down to you sucking at life or some specific part of life. If you're perfect, you have no need to fear rejection as most people will realize your flawlessness and accept you. But, since no one is really like that, we all have flaws, which causes others to choose someone else who is not flawed in that aspect(s) they desire and we become a "reject." Being ok with being constantly looked over is called "complacency." So, what would you rather do...be complacent? or fear rejection?

Simple as that.

They will ask you about your family history, how you have been feeling obviously. The usual are you allergic to this and that. Be prepared to tell them how you are sleeping, your eating schedule.

If I were you I would want to try and get better without the pills. The pills, or at least for me, just changed me so much I wasn't myself and in some cases was worse off than I began. I was like you at first where I just wanted some magic pills to make me better. After a while I stopped taking them because I really wanted to just be myself. It is different for every person. But I'd advise to at least see what therapy can do.

And take up some hobbies! Find something you enjoy doing and do it. I cannot stress this one enough because it helps immensely. Best of luck to ya!

I have been on Effexor for a few years now.
I suffered from Social Anxiety (didn't leave my house for over a year.)
Effexor has NOT caused me to gain any weight. My over-eating has. ;) And it started working in about 2 weeks for me.
I can tell you that you ABSOLUTELY MUST take your medication every day. The withdrawl process is terrible. Do not quit taking the medication until your doctor has told you that you can. They will usually take you off gradually.
My life is nothing like it was before. I don't feel the need to take my "emergency" meds anymore, such as Lorazepam.
My sex drive took a dive, but my sleeping patterns were much better after a month of usage.
GOOD LUCK! I hope this helped you!

I think it is because, even though rejection lasts only a second, the effect from the rejection. the crushing feeling, especially rejection from someone you like, can last for a very long time. It is not necesarilly the rejection that people fear, but they fear the effect it'll have on them after they are rejected. They could be crushed, that feeling lasting for years if it is a strong enough rejection.

They take it personally, instead of interpreting the decision as people expressing a preference. Not everyone is going to be attracted to everyone else in the same way.

I was on Effexor and I could not sleep. My Doctor switch me to "Klonopin" (1mg) the same that the actress "Jodi Foster" takes, but it also requires a sleep aid. I've been given "Seroquel" (!00mg) and the two have been the most successful for me out of fifteen year of suffering from "Panic Disorder". Also Klonopin can work fast and a extra one can be taken in an emergency and especially before you go to the Dentist or anything else that might cause you extra Anxiety!

i think i know how you feel, my family owns a restaurant and my mom makes me help out. i'm shy (espically around strangers and people i never talk to before), just like you. and i didn't want to talk to any that i didn't know while i was helping out. but once i did it and wasn't bad and soon enough i was use to it. so just tell yourself "this isn't going to be so bad" and once you done it a couple of times you'll get use to it.

look at the BRIGHT side you only have to work there for a couple of hours and soon you know it it'll be time to go home. unlike me i had to stay there for the rest of the day. and who knows you might even be able to make some friends

GOOD LUCK
on your first job and remember to have fun with it =]

Sure, people can give you tips and advice, but you will never fully understand yourself if you don't try it..yourself.

So you know. Medication RARELY helps for that disorder. I will say they gave me some Strattera in high school that did help me focus, but I still felt anxious outside of, say, testing. You have to learn to live with it, but a good therapist can definitely help you cope!

First, if you have insurance, call them to see what is covered, if anything, and if there is a psychologist/psychiatrist in your area they cover. If they let you choose, the best thing to do is ask around people you know (yes, I know you have social anxiety, and this likely limits those resources). If nothing else, call different offices you look up online or in the Yellow Pages and ask whatever questions you have.

You may have to "shop around". It took me four years to find a great psychologist.

If they let you choose, the best thing to do is ask around people you know (yes, I know you have social anxiety, and this likely limits those resources). If nothing else, call different offices you look up online or in the Yellow Pages and ask whatever questions you have.

You may have to “shop around”. It took me four years to find a great psychologist.

I think that if you guys are around eachother alot you should grow to be comfortable with eachother, and if that's not that case and you two are still very shy around eachother then I say you go for it, because if the both of you are waiting to break out of your shell it just might take forever.

Idid a career in the U.S. Army, and when you get promoted to the higher ranks, you sometimes need to give classes and briefings to large groups of people, some of whom are high ranking military and government officials.
As you might guess, your 'pucker factor' gets way up there. You have teams of people reviewing all of your presentation, you go over it three or four times (It is amazing how three or four people can review a power point presentation, declare it clean and well presented, then some jerk in the back row points out in front of everyone (Generals and congressmen) that your grammar is wrong or you misspelled a word).
What happened early on in my career was we would have to give a short class with a video camera rolling.
We would then review it, and everyone could point out your little idiosyncrasies (looking at the floor, picking your nose, digging in your ear, etc).
What might be a good idea is to do the same thing with family and friends, let them 'roast' you over stupid things you might do, and work on improving yourself.
But, alas, you are going to end up doing really stupid things in front of lots of people.
such is the lessons of life.
Almost every time i had to stand in front of people, my heart would pound, my palms would sweat, and I would shake, even with people I knew, but once I got going, it turned out to be kind of fun (except when some jerk would 'sharp shoot' me).
Just calm down, and be reassured that the people that seem 'over sociable' are over-compensating for being scared s h i t l e s s.
it will be ok.
Some people wont like you no matter what you do, other will accept you for who you are, even if you might seem a little 'odd'.

Don't put all your money down for one hand of cards. The less it means to you, the easier it'll be. If you find a guy that wont make or break your day when it comes to whether he likes you or not, go for it. If you get rejected then who cares? You didn't really like him anyway. If it works out then congratulations, but have fun telling him that you're not really interested when he falls head over heels for you.
You can't have it both ways. A genuine person only goes after what they know they want, genuine people get rejected as much as anyone else, it just means more to them because they had their heart in it.
Don't put all your feelings into one potential moment. The less you have invested, the less it hurts to lose. If that sounds eerily disaffected, it's because a jaded outlook isn't who you are. Stick to being genuine, it hurts but nobody said it was fun to build character.

I would like to consider myself both. Though I model, I wouldn't say that I have the ego or confidence as a model. I am more of a tom boy but appreciate feeling like a women when I want to. Most importantly is being smart. Next would be beautiful (inside and out) feeling beautiful outwardly, regardless of others opinions.

i can totaly understand where you are coming from; however, i concered my fear by reminding myself that i am only on earth for a short time. so, doI want to regret never going for it and missing something amazing or do i take my chances for a couple of minuets of akwardness if something goes wrong. also, I tell myself that if i dont go for what i want or express myself to the best of my abilities then no one will do it for me. their is no white knight in shinning armer thats a childhood fantasy so if i want my happy ending then i got to go for it. And plus, trust me, it turns out to be great more then it does bad. meaning, i have recieved more positive feed back then i have rejections. and the few rejections that i have recieved where never as earth shattering as i thought. go for it, you can never regret living your life to the fullest.

I think you need to first identify the source of this social anxiety. It may be that you are feeling inferior to others, since you mentioned that you have nothing good to say. What is the reason you are feeling self conscious? Is it because the fact the you are new to this university that you are somehow "different". That is not true at all. At any university, most people are unknown to each other, and they get to know each other there, not previously.
The best way to make a friend is to be a friend. Sometimes people may perceive you as being arrogant simply because you are not talking much. But act nicely and try to be funny around people. It should come from inside, not some made up small talk. You don't have to talk cliches, talk about your thoughts, your ideas. Be as open as possible, people really like that. No one wants a closed person to be around, everyone wants dynamism, spontaneity, fun. Be fun, you will like yourself more, and others will enjoy your company too (but that should be a secondary goal, your main goal should be being happy with who you are).
Trust me, if you open up around people and share your thoughts, even if you fear doing so, it will be completely all right. People will like you to be honest. Everyone has a sense of humor, I am sure you do too. It can be a witty, weird, crazy, it does not matter, people will appreciate you for who you are.
The best way to do all this is to join sports, or join some kind of club, or join the gym. Basically, go anywhere where there are more people, DON'T STAY ALONE. The more you stay alone, the more you will theorize about people and not know who they are, and the more needless misery you will have to endure.

It may be that you are feeling inferior to others, since you mentioned that you have nothing good to say. What is the reason you are feeling self conscious? Is it because the fact the you are new to this university that you are somehow “different”.
You don’t have to talk cliches, talk about your thoughts, your ideas.
Basically, go anywhere where there are more people, DON’T STAY ALONE. The more you stay alone, the more you will theorize about people and not know who they are, and the more needless misery you will have to endure.

You just have to go through with things. You will face rejection in life just as everyone faces death. You just have to keep going.

everyone gets rejected sometimes. so you have to realize that and just suck it up and go for it. if you get rejected at least you know they arent interested. its better to know and get rejected then not to ask and question what wouldve happened had you asked.
