Question by Marissabby: When would you let your daughter start dating?
This is more so towards parents who have daughters. What were your rules on dating? How old do you think is old enough for your daughter to start dating? I’m 16 and with my parents, dating is completely out of the question. Which I think is ridiculous because I’m responsible, I’m a good student, and I hardly ever give my parents any trouble what so ever. So what’s their deal? Any input would help, thanks.

Question by lostinne: Am I eligible for financial aid if I will be a part-time student for only one semester?
I need to take two classes in order to enroll in grad school for the Fall of 2008, but money is tight since I’m between jobs. I am only taking two classes at the cost of about $ 3000. Is it possible to get financial aid for this fall semester?

Best answer:

Answer by yvetteb93021
Of course it is. But if you are planning on getting it for the 07 Fall semester it may kind of late. It would take about two months to process, and by then you would have paid everything out of pocket.

If you are planning for the 08 Fall semester, then great. As soon as possible after January 1st you need to file the FAFSA.

My (ex) bf and I just broke up, so I was wondering what college relationships are usually like? Do most “dates” consist of nearly-free activities like watching tv, eating, board/video games, campus-sponsored activities/clubs? Or should girls still expect to be taken out every other week or so? Like relationships outside of academia?

Best answer:

Answer by Darling
From my experience, it’s no different than a regular relationship except it’s depend on how demanding your classes are. If you were going to medical or law school, college relationship would be an absolute minimal because it’s extremely hard to juggle both study time and relationship time. But other than that, it should be a little like high school but on a more mature level.

Question by DWill+KD35=unstoppable: Can I get grants that waive all of my tuition, is it possible?
If I qualify can I get grants that cover all the tuition? I need to apply and we don’t make much. I heard if you get a part time job with your university some grants can pay for all tuition and fees and all I have to pay for is housing or apartments. Is that true?

What’s the grant called? What are the best grants that give the most aid?

I will be full time.

Best answer:

Answer by kittylicker
Work-study is sometimes used as part of your financial aid offer from the school(s). You should apply for many, many scholarships. Your financial aid offer depends on the FAFSA and the school offering aid.

You should talk to your highschool counselor, the financial aid people at the school you plan to attend, and check out www.fastweb.com, and www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Question by mizz diamond: is there a way to get my financial aid money?
Im a college student in tampa Florida, but the thing is that I need to pay my rent and my financial aid money doesn’t come until January 25 2010. My rent is due january 1st-3rd and im already behind on the rent from December. Is there a way to get my Financial aid money before it’s award, something like a cash Advance? I don’t have any checks so i couldn’t get one at Amscot but i have my account and route number.

Best answer:

Answer by Proud_American_Mom
You should ask your financial aid office or student accounts office if they will grant you an advance or a short term loan. My college does this. Basically I sign a promissory note stating that I will pay back the College when my financial aid comes in. I am allowed up to $ 750 per school year. If your school doesnt have this, ask to speak to the head of the student accounts office or the VP of Finance to ask them why they dont. It is a win-win for them. Good luck

I recently graduated from grad school and owe a little over 150,000 in federal student loans. I’ve been told about the option of consolidating my loans and switching lenders to get a better interest rate and better rebate on the fees. Does anybody have a lender they’d recommend I switch to during consolidation? Do you have any other advice about repaying federal student loans? Any ways to pay off student loans quickly? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Question by Jordan G: How can I get rid of Shyness?
Is there any way to get rid of shyness?

This pretty much sums up the type of shyness I’m asking about:

Instinctive behavioural traits in social situations such as smiling, easily producing suitable conversational topics, assuming a relaxed posture and making good eye contact, which come spontaneously for the average person, may not be second nature for a shy person, requiring struggle or being completely unattainable.”

So is there a way to eventually learn to avoid or break it?

Best answer:

Answer by Jethro bodine
this is the same as last question..
just like riding a bike, you practice, you study , you prat ice , you think of what you want to be and act like you want to be, please read books written by Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, and others in the same field, study, practice, think, be………its like exercise, it must be done every day, be alert to what you think, live in the present, now get to work….above all, live to love, love life…..peace ,love ,harmony to you.

Question by : What does new student orientations entail at most universities?
I know a lot of colleges have a week or more dedicated to new student orientations. Aparently, it involves things like campus tours, help with registration, etc, and “social events” designed to build comraderie amongst new students and such. Can anyone give me examples of what kind of activities those might be? For those who are in college or have been, what did you do during orientation week?

Best answer:

Answer by prplppleater09
Orientation was only two days at my university. The first day was spend in small groups playing ice breaker games, getting our summer reading books, and then meeting with our respective schools (business, engineering, education etc). We learned a little about the school, and then were split down into majors where we met with advisors who told us what classes we needed to register for in the fall. That night after all the parents left, there were skits put on by the people running the orientation followed by a social where the bowling alley on campus was open, as was the old student center. There was also a “dance” outside the student center. The second day everyone met with their schools and then registered for classes. You then either went home or went to a laptop workshop where the school loaded all the software onto your computer.

Question by Black Hippie: College Dating: How do awkward people date?? help?
RE POST : Sorry, I posted this earlier, but my question was deleted. :*(

I’m a 18 year old female and I want to start dating soon because I’m going to college in 2 weeks. I’m in an awkward situation for dating because I don’t fit into a particular “type” of girl. I never had a serious boyfriend or tired going out on dates. (I don’t count my past high school boyfriends as serious relationships because they never lasted beyond 3 mouths) I used to be afraid to approach people because of my looks, but I want to try out the dating scene. I’m not ugly, but I do not have a typical look and I think guys will be thrown off by that. I look pretty young for my age and most people think I am 12 to 15 when they see me. I think my tiny size might be a turn off b/c I am only about 105lbs at 5”4 to 5”5, which is somewhat skinny. I am a dark skinned hippie looking black girl and I know that is no where near the dream girl look. People tell me I am pretty and exotic, but I am convinced “exotic” is other way of saying “You don’t look normal”. How should I find a date and should I approach the guys? Would a guy be scared or mad if I approached them? Guys: How would you react if I walked up to you? Should I only approach awkward looking guys? Do I stand a chase? Please be honest!! I won’t be offended

Best answer:

Answer by Mrrick77
While your in college you’ll have no time for dating. You thought your home work was a lot in High School. Well just wait.

Question by Gazlowe: college dating advice please?
Im a senior in college. For 2 years of college I had a girlfriend. During those 2 years I drank with friends, went out and did stuff with them and crashed 1 or 2 parties. right before junior year we broke up, and I spent that year going to clubs with some friends and drinking in the dorm room. Its senior year now and Ive finally met a new girl a year after my first gf. My question is: I feel like the past year of college was wasted socially-wise. I did stuff with friends sure, but I never hooked up with any girls or had any one night stands. Now its 3 days into my senior year, and despite currently “dating” a girl at another school, I have the urge to date multiple girls. I want to have a one night stand before I leave college just to say I did it. Everyone around me is surrounded by girls and I just feel like a loser. I have never been to a house party before. I know this all sounds very trivial, but its racking my brain: why cant i find any girls around here to sleep with?

Question by Marissabby: When would you let your daughter start dating?
This is more so towards parents who have daughters. What were your rules on dating? How old do you think is old enough for your daughter to start dating? I’m 16 and with my parents, dating is completely out of the question. Which I think is ridiculous because I’m responsible, I’m a good student, and I hardly ever give my parents any trouble what so ever. So what’s their deal? Any input would help, thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by **TexasChick**
same here.. I am 15 [16 in 1 month and 2 days] and I cant date until i am 16 but I am the yougest and its hard for parents to let go.

Question by kairi: A few questions about relationships in college?
I just have a few questions to people who have experienced what it’s like to be in college and relationships in college.

1. Do you think it would be better to enter college single or in a relationship? Why?
2. Is dating as dramatic in college as it is in high school?
3. Is it easier to find someone to date in college?

Any personal experiences of what it’s like in college, how dating was like in college, or anything else will be appreciated to list in your answer. Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by AfterAFashion
1. It’s easy to enter college single. There are so many new opportunities that are easier to experience single, not to mention so many new people to experience.
2. Romantic relationships will always be dramatic while you’re young, possible forever.
3. You meet soo many people in college, and everything’s less awkward than it is in high school, so dating is generally easier.

These are just my opinions, but it’s different for everyone.

I am going back to school and I have accumulated alot of debt from school loans. Do they look at school loan debt the same as any other debt? Will my credit and income play a big role and make up for all the debt?

Best answer:

Answer by Francis D
not really because, your student loan payments are usually low. Um, how much do you pay a month for student loans? And have you defaulted on any of them? If not, then you are good. But, do realize that you have to post good numbers with your income to be able to buy a house, regardless of having student loans or not…

Best answer:

Answer by PCeeze
If you can log in via cell and ipod touch, you should be looking for the fault on your computer, not on the site.
Maybe your computer security software considers the site unsafe, maybe your computers’ firewall doesn’t allow you to connect.

Okay so this started out last year. (Sophomore year high school!!!)
He was my teacher for all year and we flirted verbally but nothing BIG. He’s 26 and super cute.
I come in school my Junior year and he occasionally told me i was pretty and he said stuff just joking around an now he’s started wanting me to go to private rooms and help him do things. today he grabbed my hand and we held hands and i have a feeling that he wants me and i want to hook up with him SO BAD. but i dont know how to make this relationship progress. How do i make him come after me?!

Answer by alcohaulin ass
You mean how can you trap this guy into some statutory rape? Well Prof. Twentyyearstolife probably needs no help. Sooner or later you will get caught, he will lose his teaching license, and you will be labeled for the rest of your high school days. Great Job, by the way where did you go to school at and what’s Teaches name?

Question by anonymous: Is it hard to buy a house with student loan debt?
I am going back to school and I have accumulated alot of debt from school loans. Do they look at school loan debt the same as any other debt? Will my credit and income play a big role and make up for all the debt?

Best answer:

Answer by Francis D
not really because, your student loan payments are usually low. Um, how much do you pay a month for student loans? And have you defaulted on any of them? If not, then you are good. But, do realize that you have to post good numbers with your income to be able to buy a house, regardless of having student loans or not…

Question by Melanie: How is dating in Japan different from the US?
I’ve met a Japanese exchange student at my college and he and I seem to get along very well. I’m just concerned about how dating or courtship is different in Japan. I’m just worried that anything I do will be considered ‘improper’ or I might give him the wrong idea about something unintentionally. Is there anything I should know about how the whole dating thing works in Japan?

Best answer:

Answer by AyHy
It’s a little bit different in Japan, but not too much. The U.S. is a lot more individualist a country than Japan. The Japanese tend to be more concerned about what their friends think of their significant other than Americans are, and from what I understand, the vast majority of Japanese relationships start with one friend introducing a boy or girl to another friend. It’s much less common for a guy to approach a strange girl and ask her for her number, for example.

The good news is, if he’s a Japanese exchange student, that means he’s interested in American culture and he’s probably excited about dating the American way. So do what comes naturally: that’s what he’s looking for.

Just be extra-careful about embarrassing him in public. Americans often think “spontaneous” and “wild” behavior is sexy. The Japanese are more likely to find it to be a massive turn-off.
